Sam Golden Memorial Scholarship Program

The IIA of Arkansas Education Foundation scholarship.png
The Independent Insurance Agents of Arkansas Education Foundation is proud to award advanced insurance education scholarships in honor of one of the insurance industry's staunchest supporters.

Sam Golden of Jonesboro spent most of his life involved in the insurance business and when he passed away at the early age of 58, he was a territory manager for Progressive Insurance. Not only was he knowledgeable and loyal to his company, but he was known for helping agencies, especially the smaller agencies, navigate through the complexities of being successful in the insurance competitive marketplace. He was twice selected as the recipient of the Association's Field Representative of the Year Award. Sam was a huge supporter of the Arkansas Big “I" and he served as the company representative on the Board of the IIAA Education Foundation.

The Sam Golden Memorial Scholarships will be awarded based on individual character, career plans and leadership potential. Preference will be given to family members and current employees of Arkansas Big I members. To qualify for the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) scholarships, applicants must be actively involved in the insurance business. To qualify for the college scholarships, applicants must have completed two years of college requirements with plans to enter the field of property / casualty insurance.

There are two scholarship categories:

  • The first scholarship category is for full tuition for first time attendees to the Certified Insurance Counselor or Certified Insurance Service Representative programs. There will be four $400 scholarships offered for the CIC certification program and four $150 scholarships offered for the CISR certification program. The scholarships must be used within twelve months of being awarded and the recipient may attend the seminar of their choosing.

  • The second scholarship category is for college or university students. There will be two $1000 scholarships to an accredited college or university for students who have successfully completed two years of college requirements with plans to enter the insurance industry.
