Annual Leadership Conference
On March 28-29 over 100-member agents and company representatives gathered in Hot Springs for the 2018 Leadership Conference sponsored by the IIAA Young Agents. Following the IIAA Board of Directors meeting at the Hot Springs Country Club on Wednesday the 28th, almost 70 golfers enjoyed a lunch provided by Union Standard Insurance Group before the rain caused a tournament cancellation. Being flexible, conference attendees improvised with afternoon activities including bowling, museum tours, and maybe a visit to the Oaklawn casino. A few die-hards even played golf in the inclement weather.
Wednesday evening, Med James sponsored a unique opening reception followed by the exciting magic performance at Maxwell Blade’s Theatre of Magic!
Flexibility again came into play for the Thursday morning general session. Alton Carter, the scheduled speaker sponsored by Progressive, had a medical emergency and at the last minute, Major Ed Pulido, a highly decorated soldier who lost a leg in the war in Iraq, gave an inspirational and motivational speech to a crowd that gave him a standing ovation at the end of his presentation.
The day’s activities ended with a "Mini-Company Showcase" where select vendors were able to build new relationships or strengthen existing ones.
A special thank you goes to Markel Specialty for paying the registration fees for first time conference attendees.
